These are the five words Time magazine once used to describe Grace Kelly. The first half of the twentieth century was a time when Emily Post, the classic American expert on etiquette, encouraged women to wear gloves in their everyday lives, for both casual and formal affairs. In the fifties, wearing white gloves were not common in Hollywood, but Kelly, who was always properly dressed, wore her white gloves as part of her signature ladylike style.

It's wonderful to hear that the new generation appreciate classic movies.
I can't put my finger on it now, but there was a great story in a Miss Manners book about Grace Kelly wearing her white gloves to a bullfight, and the toreador tossing her the ear of the bull at the end of the fight, which she caught in her gloved hands. Miss Manners said something like, "That's why they call her a Serene Highness."
